The visit of the delegation from Japan headed by the Executive Director of the JAEA Nobuyuki Yoshida marks the beginning of a new stage of cooperation between NNC and JAEA. During the meetings the parties discussed the implementation of the new project EAGLE-3, continuing research in the field of safe nuclear energy.

During the visit, the delegation visited the facilities of the National Nuclear Center – CRR IGR, the experimental facility EAGLE, KTM Tokamak, the Museum of STS and other objects. Experiments in the framework of the new project EAGLE-3 will be scheduled from the second half of 2015. During the discussions all organizational and technical issues of the project were discussed.

— In Japan, JAEA is one of our main partners in the field of research of nuclear energy safety issues. We appreciate the good relations between specialists of NNC and JAEA during the long years of joint work. I would also like to note that today the EAGLE project is the most long-term, multifaceted and effective international project of NNC RK, — says NNC RK Director General Erlan Batyrbekov.

Collaboration with JAEA began over 17 years ago starting from EAGLE-1 project in the late 90-ies of the last century. In the framework of NNC and JAEA cooperation the unique experimental results on severe accidents processes in fast reactors, confirming the ability to prevent the consequences of such accidents, have been received.
