The 3rd meeting of the Kazakhstan - Canada Business Coucil took place on June 11, 2018, in Ottawa (Canada), as part of the Council’s activities for further bilateral cooperation development. Tim Gitzel, the President and CEO of Cameco, and Galymzhan Pirmatov, the CEO of Kazatomprom, were the co-chairs of the event.
In the context of the event some working groups meetings were held where such issues as nuclear energy and hydrogeology, agriculture and agricultural products, transport and aerospace industry, mining industry and oil and gas sector were discussed.
A Memorandum of Cooperation in Space Industry was signed between the Canadian Space Agency and the Ministry of Defense and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Representatives of the state bodies, diplomatic missions and businesses of Kazakhstan and Canada took part in the event. The Business Council became an important platform for discussion of topical issues of further mutually beneficial cooperation, investments attraction and joint projects in different industrial sectors.
Representatives of both governments noted a positive dynamics in goods turnover between Kazakhstan and Canada, and a contribution of Canada as a country among the top 15 countries when we speak about the volume of foreign investments in Kazakhstan.
In conclusion, the participants expressed their willingness to strengthen their business relations and to expand the bilateral cooperation.
