Chairman of the Board of «NAC «Kazatomprom» JSC visited “Uralsk electrochemical combine” OJSC (UECC), 25% + 1 share of which is owned by joint Kazakhstan-Russian venture “Uranium enrichment center” CJSC (UEC).

In Novouralsk city, Sverdlovsk oblast, where “UECC” OJSC is located, delegation of Kazatomprom held a meeting with their partners in UEC – representatives of Rosatom state corporation.

The head of «NAC «Kazatomprom» JSC Nurlan Kapparov and Director of International cooperation department of “Rosatom” SC Nikolay Spasskiy discussed the progress of implementation of Integrated Kazakhstan-Russian cooperation program in the field of nuclear energy, noting that phases of establishing of mining enterprises and obtaining access to enrichment services have already been implemented successfully. Now the parties proceed to discussion of construction of nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan.

Director for NFC and NPP lifecycle management of Rosatom state corporation Vladislav Korogodin made a presentation to the head of Kazatomprom on UEC joint project: he told about the history, elaborated on implementation approach and assessment of project prospects in the future.

Then N.Kapparov together with Russian colleagues visited UECC industrial site: uranium storage areas, main processing facility and area of loading the end product into containers.

- It is almost the first anniversary of shipment of the first products under UEC brand and as far as I can make out, our cooperation is developing appropriately and it will be expanded. The Combine has 65 years of experience – the whole world trusts him. European and American partners are among its customers. We trust and we will continue with the work, - said N.Kapparov.

– Uralsk electrochemical combine is not only the largest enterprise of separate sublimate complex, it is a foundation of our cooperation with Kazakhstan. A unique enterprise is established at our UECC in key section of nuclear fuel cycle, there is no other such enterprise in Russian nuclear power – Uranium enrichment center. It is a real business-unit, which operates successfully and enters international markets. UEC is a vivid example of our cooperation but not a single one, it is a sort of locomotive – cooperation has an integrated character, - noted N.Spasskiy.

Discussion of bilateral cooperation of Kazakhstan and Russia continued in Moscow, where Kazatomprom delegation started for after the visit to UECC.
