September 28, 2016 the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a solemn meeting devoted to the professional holiday "Day of nuclear industry."
The ceremony was attended by officials of the Ministry of Energy, subordinate enterprises such as RSE "National Nuclear Center of Kazakhstan", RSE "Institute of Nuclear Physics" and RSE "Institute of Geophysical Research", as well as employees of JSC "NAC" Kazatomprom, "JSC "Volkovgeologiya " and "Ulba metallurgical plant".
Vice-Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan B. Dzhaksaliyev congratulated with the Day of workers of the nuclear industry and nuclear industry professionals were awarded for their achievements in the professional activities with "Atom salasynyn yzdіgі", medals presented for the first time since the adoption of the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan from December 15, 2011 № 1539 "On departmental awards of public bodies in the Republic of Kazakhstan", as well as diplomas and letters of thanks from the Ministry of energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. With "Atom salasynyn yzdіgі" medals were awarded Levin Alexander G. (Head of the Department of Atomic Energy of the branch "Institute of Atomic Energy" RSE "National Nuclear Center of Kazakhstan"), Akatov Anatoly Ivanovich (Electronic engineer for Information Technologies Division of RSE "National nuclear center of Kazakhstan "), Sergei Markovic (Director of strategic development of JSC" NAC "Kazatomprom" department).
The day of the nuclear industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan was founded by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated on January 20, 1998 № 3827 "On professional and other holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan" and is celebrated annually on September 28.
The emergence of the professional holiday for the nuclear industry in the calendar of holidays Kazakhstan demonstrates the important role of the nuclear industry in the economic development of the country.
Today, Kazakhstan's nuclear industry is one of the most high-tech and cost-effective in the country and is considered as one of the key, strategic and successful industries. The success of the nuclear industry support the achievements of independent Kazakhstan and a desire to to take a place in future where nuclear energy will play a key role.
This year, the Head of the State Nursultan Nazarbayev took part in the Nuclear Security Summit held in Washington (USA). During the Summit, the Head of State stressed that Kazakhstan is among the top twenty countries with the highest level of safety of nuclear facilities and materials. Thus, in the country at the national level were implemented a set of measures for nuclear security and an improved system of export control of nuclear materials. In addition, this year the research department of the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Almaty converted to a low-enriched fuel.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to close the Semipalatinsk test site. In connection on August 29, 2016, the building of "Tauelsizdik Saraiy" was held an International Conference on "building a world without nuclear weapons", dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site. The conference was devoted to the issues of global security, in particular in the field of nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament.
