The 20th Anniversary of Kazakhstani-Japan cooperation in the area of atomic power civil use was celebrated this year. Complicated experiments were conducted under joint programs in the sphere of atomic power facilities security, development and application of high temperature and gas cooled reactor technologies, as well as studies to justify development of nuclear power engineering in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Continuing the implementation of joint projects a number of new and very important for both Japanese and Kazakhstani sides, activities were initiated, one of which is “CORMIT” Project. The main task of the current project – is the experimental study of the interaction process of light water reactor core with different high temperature protective materials, which may be used for concrete bottom of reactor catcher.In October 21-24, 2014 Working Meetings of TOSHIBA and Marubeni Utility Services members and specialists from RSE NNC RK “Institute of Atomic Power” branch were held. In the course of the meetings results of experiments conducted at facilities of the Institute were discussed and further steps of project implementation were elaborated.
