On June 13, the Republican popular science lecture course «Peaceful ATOM» in full-time format visited a real Kazakh science city – Kurchatov, Abai region: The Youth Branch of the Association «Nuclear Society of Kazakhstan» was honored to open the annual Summer School «Young Physicist – 2022»*.
This year it was attended by more than 50 students from four schools in Kurchatov town, Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Semey and neighboring settlements of the Pavlodar region.
It has been 127 years since the discovery of the phenomenon of radioactivity, and it would seem that such simple issues as ionizing radiation or simply radiation, mutation, atom, nuclear fusion and decay reactions, and the application of atomic technology should be clear to anyone. However, due to the disclosure of these concepts only in the final grades of secondary school, this topic has uncertainty in the understanding of a modern citizen of our Republic. And therefore, we need to talk about this now – from the middle school level, when the interests of the child are being formed and the first sketches of his or her choice of profession are emerging.
All participants of the Summer School «Young Physicist – 2022» received small souvenirs in memory of our meeting, and the most active guys who answered the questions received a merch of our Youth Branch as a gift.
