Meeting on the 50th anniversary of the launch of the First Fast Neutron Power Reactor (BN-350) in Shevchenko

On 14.07.2023, a solemn meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the launch of the First Fast Neutron Power Reactor (BN-350) in Shevchenko, which has worked for more than a quarter of a century, was held at the IPPE House of Culture in Obninsk (RF). The President of the Nuclear Society of Kazakhstan, Vladimir Sergeevich SHKOLNIK, took part in the work of the meeting at the invitation of the management of the Institute for Physics and Power Engineering of JSC “State Scientific Centre of the Russian Federation – A.I. Leypunsky Institute for Physics and Power Engineering”.

Operation experience of BN-350 confirmed the correctness of the scientific and technical ideas incorporated in it, showed reliability and safety of power units with sodium fast reactors.

In his speech, Professor Shkolnik V.S., noted the participation of Kazakhstanis who took part in the launch of BN-350, and also summarized the main results of the Scientific and Technical Council.
