On November 12, 2018, the working meeting was held between the specialists from the Institute of Nuclear Physics and the representatives of the National Nuclear Security Administration of the US Department of Energy.
The representatives of the American side provided information about the command and staff exercises to be held in Shymkent in December this year to counter nuclear smuggling. The Institute of Nuclear Physics has been proposed to take an active part in preparation and implementation of these exercises.
The parties discussed the status of the project “Development of Nuclear Forensics in Kazakhstan” and the proposals for joint comparative laboratory experiment with the participation of analytical laboratories of Kazakhstan, the United States, Japan and Hungary.
