Тechnical Visit to the Semipalatinsk Test Site

On October 14, 2019, group of inspectors from International Atomic Energy Agency led by Mr. H. Barroso Junior, Director, Department of Safeguards, visited the National Nuclear Center of RK. IAEA delegation was invited in September this year during bilateral meeting held between Kazakhstan and IAEA Department of Safeguards in the margins of 63rd IAEA General Conference.

As a prelude to the technical visit, an official briefing was held, where NNC RK specialists presented results of large-scale activity on elimination of nuclear testing consequences and infrastructure at Semipalatinsk Test Site under trilateral cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan, United States of America and Russian Federation, as well as the project on elimination of WMD test consequences at STS.

Following the briefing, IAEA inspectors undertook technical visits to STS sites.
